For this particular project, we will make a Timelapse video of the Sun!!!

Sounds interesting right? I know!
So we will use this website https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/ which makes data publicly available (noice).

If you go to Data→Aiahmi you will reach this website https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/aiahmi/

This gives us a zip of all the images in a particular date range.

We want to create a timelapse of Sun of a single day hence we will choose a date range say 25-12-2020 to 26-12-2020 and telescope AIA 171 (gold) and we can choose Frames Download to get the image of the Sun throughout the day.

But we are lazy people and we like to do things automatically, so we will make a project which makes a GIF for us directly by downloading images automatically.

We are looking for a webpage where all the images will be available for us to download
That is available under Data→Ways to Access Data and under SDO Data Access Website clicking
this link https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/assets/img/browse/ gives us ALL the data

We are interested in 2020 then 12 then 25 which brings us to this link

https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/assets/img/browse/index.php?b=2020%2F12%2F25

The format of name of images are <date>_<time>_<quality>_<telescope>.jpg

We are only interested only in images of type 20201225_<time>_512_0171.jpg

Now we need to write a program that downloads all such images and make a GIF for us 🙂
Easy peasy 😀

This is the video description of the same: https://youtu.be/Jw1pYjQHt-4

Please fill this form to receive the link to the Jupyter-Notebook with the same details.
Please note the Deadline is 15-01-2021.
Happy Coding 🙂
